Last November, Adam Levine teased fans with a sneak peak on a huge back tattoo that he was getting done. Six months later, that tattoo is finally complete. The Maroon 5 singer showed off the completed piece on his Instagram account and thanked the artist who made the entire thing possible.

"6 months in the making. Thanks @bryanrandolph for absolutely blowing my mind with this one! Woooo hooooo!!!!" the singer captioned a picture of the huge tattoo, which features a mermaid with wings holding a skull. Other parts of the intricate piece include an ocean scene with a boat and the sun in the background while the wheel of a ship sits at the nape of the singer's neck.

The tattoo was completed by artist Bryan Randolph, who works at Spider Murphy's Tattoo in San Rafael, Calif., according to the New York Daily News. Levine's wife, model Behati Prinsloo, also uploaded a picture of the back piece to her own Instagram account where she called the tattoo "some serious art."

This was not the first tattoo the "The Voice" coach has gotten. Levine sat down with Inked magazine in 2013 and dished on his favorite tattoo: a word written in Sanskrit on his chest.

"The meaning is a little bit loose and can get misinterpreted, but when applied to talking about yoga, it has to do with my fire or determination for the practice," Levine told the magazine. "It's a personal thing. That's kind of why I put it in a place that's a bit more hidden."

While a lot of his tattoos are significant to him, the singer was the first to admit that not all of them have a special meaning.

"I was in Japan and I got this necklace. I'm not sure why I got it - I think I was bored," he explained. "But I like it."
