There was an elephant in the room when "The Voice" returned for its first episode of battle rounds, that elephant was Adam Levine's big, shiny bald head! The 36-year-old singer of "Maroon 5" ditched his normal luscious locks and caused uproar in the female community.

The episode of "The Voice" was obviously filmed at separate times as Levine had two separate hair-do's in last night's episode, according to Entertainment Tonight. During Levine's coaching sessions with team advisor John Forgerty, the singer sported his normal full head of hair. Later in the episode during the battle rounds, Levine walked out onstage and looked more like a superhero villain instead of the singer of a rock band.

Levine's fellow coaches on "The Voice" could not stop making fun of the singer. Blake Shelton referred to Levine as Dr. Evil and Lex Luther in various points of the show. After the new episode of "The Voice" aired, Levine took to his Twitter account to address his newly bald head.

"Excuse me," the rocker tweeted. "Lex Luthor was bald. I have 'shaved' my head. Meaning, shaved by choice. Big difference. OK?!! OK?!!"

This was not the first time the Maroon 5 front man shaved his head, according to Us Weekly. He previously went bald in May 2012.

"I shaved my head," Levine tweeted back then. "Sometimes it's just necessary, like an emotional reboot. It'll grow back."

Make sure to check out Levine and his bald head in another battle round episode of "The Voice," which airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
