Lottie Tomlinson is not your average teenager. At the young age of 17, she has already traveled around the world, holding down a full-time job as a makeup artist. Now, she is preparing for a brand-new gig as Selena Gomez's makeup artist for her upcoming world tour, according to Hello!

"If you know what you're meant to do, just find a way to do it," Tomlinson told Elle. "Don't be 'too good' for a job, or get nervous that the schedule's really intense. If it's experience and you need experience... take the job."

Tomlinson, whose older brother is One Direction member and new father Louis Tomlinson, graduated from high school and then asked celebrity makeup and hair artist Lou Teasdale for an internship. The teenager had already been working with her mentor when she met Gomez backstage at the "X Factor" in the United Kingdom.

"We met backstage," said Tomlinson. "She came to Lou to ask her to do her hair. She had really long hair at the time, and it was getting all knotted up. So I was assisting Lou with her hair, and she asked for a makeup touch-up. I said, 'Sure, I can do that!' And she liked it, and we're still in contact."

Tomlinson said she will head out on the tour with Gomez in May, but will only be with the pop star for two months out of her yearlong tour. While she is excited for life on the road, something she has already experienced with One Direction, Tomlinson admitted she was scared of getting homesick.

"Hopefully, my family will come visit from time to time and make it easier," she said.
