Microsoft and AT&T have addressed the shipment delays for Nokia Lumia 1520 orders due to the "overwhelming demand" by offering customers a $25 gift card for the inconvenience caused.

Microsoft and AT&T have addressed the shipment delays of its latest Nokia Lumia 1520 by sending out emails to all the buyers who ordered the device online. The email informed the excited buyers of Lumia 1520 that they needed to wait a little longer than expected before getting their hands on the phone. The shipment delay was blamed on the "overwhelming demand" for the Lumia 1520, which was available for pre-orders via AT&T, November 8.

The email sent to buyers, who will be getting their phones late , was precise and conveyed the message solemnly.

"Because of overwhelming demand, your Nokia Lumia 1520 order is delayed in shipping. As soon as your shipping label is printed, we'll send you an email with the tracking information. You can also track your order on our site," according to a copy of the email obtained by Windows Phone Central.

Nokia officially launched the 6-inch Lumia 1520 smartphone alongside its first tablet Lumia 2520, October 22, 2013, at Nokia World in Abu Dhabi. The smartphone had gained immense popularity ahead of its release, thanks to a series of leaks from various sources.

AT&T announced the Lumia 1520 on its site, Friday, for $99 with a two-year contract and in less than a day some buyers started reporting the shipment delay emails. The smartphone was available for pre-order via the carrier's website with a shipment date of November 19 and arrival on November 21. Some buyers who ordered the yellow version of the phone are likely to face a longer delay, until November 27, CNET reports.

Microsoft, on the other hand, is trying to find a way to make peace with the unhappy customers by offering a $25 gift card for future use at Microsoft Store.

"Our priority is to ensure that every customer who ordered a new Lumia 1520 gets it as quickly as possible," a Microsoft spokesperson told CNET via an e-mail.
