Zayn Malik made his official debut on American television as a solo artist, premiering a brand new song on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" last night. The former One Direction singer performed his second single, "It's You," on the show, and also presented the cover of his upcoming album "Mind of Mine," according to People.

Malik, dressed in a smart black jacket, crooned his way through his new song, which is believed to be about his ex-fiancée, Little Mix member Perrie Edwards.

The British heartthrob is set to release his debut album March 25, exactly one year after he left Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan to soldier on as a four-piece, reported the Daily Mail.

And it seems like Malik is completely happy with the direction his career is heading into. "I feel good! I feel like that's the key thing in life, you know, regardless of whatever it is that you do," he said.

"You have to always remain true to yourself and do whatever makes you happy because, at the end of the day, you answer to yourself, so it's a good place to be in. I'm happy about the decision I made," he told Z100's Elvis Duran, according to E!.
