The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are starting off the holiday season on a positive note this year, having written a personal "good luck" letter to the England rugby team.

According to Hello! magazine, sports fans Prince William and Kate Middleton sent a special letter to their country's rugby team as they prepare for a game against New Zealand.

"I would like to wish all of you in the England squad the best of luck in your game against New Zealand on Saturday," Prince William wrote. "We all know, of course, that the Kiwis will be brutally tough opponents probably the toughest you have faced in the tournament so far. But I have no doubt you will take strength from the knowledge that you thoroughly deserve your place in the semi-finals and you will no doubt rise to the occasion against a formidable team. I am only sorry I cannot be there in person, but I will be watching and to you all, from Catherine and me, the very best of luck!"

The royal couple have been spotted plenty of times in the stands at rugby games, and have even given their son, Prince George, his own mini-rugby shirt, presented by Welsh Rugby captain Sam Warburton in the locker room before the Wales vs South Africa final of the Prince William Rugby Cup  William has been vice patron of the Welsh Rugby since 2007.

As for their Christmas plans, rumor has it that the laid-back couple may eschew royal tradition once again and have dinner at home as a family, although the palace has yet to confirm such reports.
