The San Francisco 49ers are close to finalizing a long-term deal with tight end Garrett Celek, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Celek ended the season on injured reserve with a high-ankle sprain and has finished the past two seasons on injured reserve in San Francisco. The 6-foot-5, 252-pound tight end recorded 19 receptions for 186 yards and scored three touchdowns in 11 games during the 2015 regular season.

Celek went undrafted out of Michigan State and has spent the past four seasons in San Francisco. The 49ers tight end played on 39 percent of San Francisco's offensive plays and 19 percent of their special teams snaps, according to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk.

The specifics of Celek's contract are unknown at this time, but San Francisco's front office still has some major decisions to make this offseason. 49ers wide receiver Anquan Boldin becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason and led the team in both receptions (69) and in yards (789). It's unknown what the 49ers' front office plans are with Boldin this offseason, but some have speculated that the 49ers could look to add a wide receiver in the first round of the draft.

The 49ers are looking to lock up their tight end before the free agent period begins in March, but they still have major decisions to make on the offensive side of the ball this offseason, especially at the quarterback position.
