Aziz Ansari broke out in 2015 with his Netflix comedy special and new series "Master of None." The latter will continue for a second season, but Ansari will spend 2016 gathering source material before the new season premieres next year.

The "Parks & Recreation" star announced season two would arrive in 2017 via Twitter. "Thanks for all the support everyone!!" he tweeted on Thursday.

He and co-creator Alan Yang addressed the possibility of another season at the Television Critics Association winter press tour last month and said they were still "figuring out" what they were going to do.

"I need some time to refill my head," Ansari told reporters (via The Hollywood Reporter). "The first season was so personal and I want to make sure that whatever we do for season two lives up to what we did for season one. We'd love to do it; we're figuring it out."

In the critically acclaimed "Master of None," Ansari stars as Dev, who is navigating his personal and professional life in New York City. He plays a commercial actor, best know for his Go-Gurt ad, and the series addresses his Indian culture, especially when it comes to his family (his real-life parents play his parents on the show) and the acting roles he's offered.

"[There were] things that happened to me years ago, like the 'Indians on TV' [episode] - that was something that definitely happened to me when I was starting out in my career," he said. "Alan and I are not holding anything back."

"Master of None" will return for a second season in 2017.
