Largan Precision Co. , the Taiwanese smartphone camera lens maker is suing Samsung for infringing six of its imaging lens patents in its popular Galaxy Note and S series smartphone cameras.

Largan Precision Co., the world's biggest designer and manufacturer of imaging lens products for smartphones confirmed on Tuesday that it is taking the smartphone leader, Samsung, to court over alleged infringement of six imaging lens patents used in its Galaxy Note and S smartphones. The Taiwan-based imaging lens maker is seeking compensation through a complaint filed in the U.S. federal court in San Diego, November 14.

Samsung is not the only company under the lens of Largan. In fact, some of its Taiwan-based rival companies including Genius Electronic Optical Co. and Ability Opto-Electronics Technology Co. are also being sued over patent infringements.

According to investor relations employee Amanda Chiu, the company will further evaluate and may sue other companies over patent infringements. But Chiu declined to comment further on the case proceedings with Samsung, Bloomberg reports.

"We are carefully reviewing this matter and not able to provide any details at this moment," said  South Korea-based Samsung in response to the Largan case.

Largan has appealed to the court to issue a stay order on the imports of Samsung products that use the infringed technology.

Samsung, recently, has been embroiled in a lot of court room controversies, courtesy of the legal war with Apple in several countries around the world. Most recently, Samsung agreed to pay $52 million to Apple for infringing several patents in the making and marketing 26 devices using the same.

But the jury has failed to come to a conclusion after two days of deliberations this week and will return for a third day to decide the final amount Samsung will pay Apple. Apple is seeking $380 million in damages.
