"Frozen" is officially scheduled to make its Broadway debut in 2018! Yesterday, the new Frozen Broadway Twitter account announced the exciting news.

"FROZEN is slated for Broadway spring 2018 following a pre-Broadway engagement summer 2017," the tweet read, alongside a link to the show's official website.

Golden Globe award winner and two-time Tony award nominee Alex Timber (who directed "Peter and the Starcatcher," "Here Lies Love" and "Mozart in the Jungle") will serve as the "Frozen" director, and Tony award winner Peter Darling (from "Billy Elliot" and "Matilda") is the musical's choreographer, according to a press release. Seven-time Tony award winner Bob Crowley will do the scenic and costume design, five-time Tony Award winner Natasha Katz will handle the lighting and four-time Tony nominee Peter Hylenski will do the sound design, so the set is bound to be incredible.

The cast has not yet been announced, but the popular music and lyrics, by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, will remain the same.

Disney and ABC also recently announced an upcoming "Frozen" holiday special, which will feature the same beloved voices from the original film, including Kristen Bell as Princess Anna, Idina Menzel as Queen Elsa and Josh Gad as Olaf, according to Mashable. This does not have an official premiere date just yet.

While it's unclear if Menzel will be asked to appear in the Broadway adaption or not, she has previously expressed interest in playing Elsa once again for a live adaptation.

"Yes! Sure! Absolutely," she said when asked about reprising the role in April, according to Us Weekly. "It was such a dream of mine to be in the Disney family and become an animated queen."
