Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera has announced that linebacker Thomas Davis will start in Super Bowl 50 despite breaking his forearm in the NFC Championship game, according to NFL reporter Steve Wyche.

Following the Panthers win in the NFC Championship game over the Arizona Cardinals, Davis underwent surgery that required a plate and 11 to 12 screws to be inserted into his arm. The Panthers veteran linebacker has been a leader on the field and has been testing his arm in the lead-up to the big game.

"It was a light day but I took every opportunity that I could to bump it against something and really see how if feels," said Davis following Monday's practice, via the Charlotte Observer. "All in all it was pretty good. I know it's going to be different when you're actually out there and things are live when we're playing the game on Sunday, but at the same time for it to be my first opportunity to get back out there I really felt good."

Davis is expected to receive his full workload this Sunday, and will look to disrupt Denver's offensive game plan, according to NFL reporter Albert Breer. The 11-year NFL veteran is looking to win his first Super Bowl in his career, and has been a consistent defensive playmaker for Carolina since being drafted in the first round of the 2005 NFL Draft. He recorded 105 combined tackles, 5.5 sacks, and 4 interceptions in Carolina's incredible run to Super Bowl 50 this season.
