With Brazil's Carnival fast approaching on Feb. 5, a mini-parade was held on Jan. 31 in anticipation for the yearly five-day party, reported The Associated Press. This mini-parade was a little different than the rest of the parades involved with Carnival, though, because this one was marched by pets!

Brazilian pets and their owners marched down the streets of Rio de Janeiro, dressed in masks and costumes, as a sort of rehearsal for the huge parties to come starting next week, reported The Latin Post.

The video below, uploaded by Latin American news source TuNexoDe, shows the masses walking down the streets and costumes ranging from princesses to superheroes. The video is in Spanish, but you don't need to understand all the words to enjoy the sight of pets and their friends marching to a Samba beat. Look out for a particularly adorable masked golden retriever near the end of the video.

The woman holding a little white dog dressed in gold is Lucia Coutinho. Her pampered pup is called Baby. "This street party for dogs is a party that the dogs' owners also enjoy. Every year that I've participated, I dress up to match my dog, every year with a different costume," says Coutinho in the video.

In the weeks leading up to the Carnival, many neighborhoods in Rio have mini-parties called "Blocos," sort of like warm-ups for the huge celebration that is Carnaval. Musicians and partiers parade down the street, singing, dancing and having a generally excellent time, says Rosa Ramirez of Associated Press in TuNexoDe's video.

Street parties to warm up for the huge week of parties? Sounds good to us!
