While most Hollywood stars bring their significant others or their mothers to big award shows, Uzo Aduba bucked tradition and asked her high school prom date to the 22nd Annual SAG Awards.

Aduba was escorted to the show by her friend since kindergarten Mark Crowley. She posted side-by-side photos of them on the SAG red carpet and their prom picture.

"He asked me to the prom, I said yes. I asked him to SAGs, he said yes," the "Orange Is the New Black" star captioned the Instagram photo.

Crowley also brought Aduba some luck. The 34-year-old actress won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her role as Crazy Eyes in Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black," which also won Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

"I would like to take an opportunity to acknowledge the actors who are at home, not here in this room with us, but hoping to one day be in this room with us to continue to keep trying, to keep plugging, to keep working, no matter if anybody tells you to get out of that line that you're waiting in. Stay in line. You have the chance. It is yours," Aduba encouraged aspiring actors in her acceptance speech.

"Orange Is the New Black" will return for its fourth season on June 17 on Netflix.
