It's probably a little misleading at this point to say that Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler is a divisive figure in the Windy City. Sure, the dour signal-caller has plenty of backers in Chi-town, but he's also got legions of football fanatics who think he's about as bad as pizza that's not baked in a pan and doesn't look like a multi-tiered cake made out of cheese, sauce and the tears of angels. He's a cheesesteak when all anyone really wants is some jardinière on their jus-soaked Italian beef.

It's really not surprising then - strange as it may seem to those outside of Chicago - that one Chicago sports fan took the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to burn Cutler in both a lasting, and morbidly intense manner - via her obituary.

Here's the obit, in all its glory, as published in the Chicago Tribune (h/t to theScore)...

"Elizabeth Porter Bowman, 78, of Northbrook, Illinois died peacefully January 9, 2016, surrounded by her children. Betsy was an elementary school teacher and later a tutor, but her passion and focus was being a dedicated and involved mother and grandmother. She was a woman of loyalty, integrity, opinion, curiosity and intelligence. A lifelong fan of the Cubs, Blackhawks and Bears (except Jay Cutler)."

That's a pretty serious grudge right there. And it can't feel good for Cutler to know that a woman was willing to go to her grave hating him for his excessive turnovers and generally uninspiring play.

But really, it may speak more to the role sports play in our lives than it does to Cutler's legacy in Chicago. Sure, Cutler's been an expensive mistake for the Bears, though he played fairly well this past season. But Bowman's pointed obit doesn't just speak to her dissatisfaction with Cutler - it speaks to her deep and abiding love for all things Chicago sports.

Do not go quietly into that good night, Elizabeth.

You do you, girl.
