Netflix has ordered a "Stretch Armstrong" animated series from Hasbro studios in a bid to expand its original content for children, the streaming service announced on Thursday. The 26-episode series based on the popular toy is slated to premiere in 2017, according to Deadline.

"Stretch Armstrong" follows the story of a teenager named Jake Armstrong and his two best friends, who are accidentally exposed to an experimental chemical, giving them the ability to stretch and form a team of superheroes called Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters.

"With roughly half of our 75 million members regularly watching kids content, we're happy to expand our original slate with these three great series," said Andy Yeatman, Director of Global Kids Content for Netflix, according to The Wrap. "We know kids love Netflix and that's in part because they never really outgrow us. We program and recommend new TV shows and movies from preschool through their teen years and into adulthood."

Netflix also announced orders for a live-action sci-fi drama series called "The Greenhouse," for tweens set to premiere in 2017. The streaming service will also add a new musical show called "Lalaloopsy," which is set for a fall 2016 premiere, according to Variety.
