A family in Virginia was killed on Wednesday in what appears to be a murder-suicide incident, authorities said.

A family of six was killed after negotiations with the suspect, 26-year-old Cameron Dooley, became unsuccessful. Dooley reportedly killed both his parents then proceeded to kill his brother, sisters and his grandmother, killing himself after, according to the Associated Press. All family members were shot.

The police first responded in the Dooley residence at Wildwood Road at around 3:35 p.m. to verify an incident report and found 22-year-old Landon Dooley dead, Chesapeake Police spokesperson Kelly O'Sullivan said, according to WAVY.com.

The authorities then proceeded to the grandmother's residence a few blocks away from where the body was found at 7 p.m. where the suspect locked himself in and eventually killed all his family members after a few hours of negotiations.

The victims found inside the home were his father Steven Todd Dooley, 50, mother Lori Dooley, 54, Brooke Dooley, 17, and grandmother Doris Dooley.

There is no identified cause for Dooley to murder his whole family and then commit suicide.

The suspect moved into his grandmother's home after her health failed following the death of her husband.

Neighbor Desiree Darst knew of the suspect and said that she used to baby sit him. She added that he took care of his grandmother and would walk to his parent's house.

"That's how we know him," Darst said, according to The Virginian-Pilot. "He'd stop by and talk. He'd come in and chit-chat."

Grandmother Doris Dooley and her husband Rev. Allen Dooley became Chesapeake residents in the 1960s. Their family has been a long-time part of the community since the father, Steven Todd Dooley, was in the Chesapeake Police Department for 25 years.
