Valentin Kassarnig, a researcher at the University of Massachusetts, has created an artificial intelligence that can write stereotypical political speeches.

Kassarnig used around 4,000 political speeches to train his A.I. invention, programming it to use snippets from those speeches to create a political spiel, SlashGear reported.

"In this report we present a system that can generate political speeches for a desired political party. Furthermore, the system allows to specify whether a speech should hold a supportive or opposing opinion," Kassarnig wrote, according to Digital Trends.

The A.I. was also informed of whether the speeches were from Republicans or Democrats.

"Mr. Speaker, supporting this rule and supporting this bill is good for small business. It is great for American small business, for Main Street, for jobs creation," reads a sample speech created by the A.I., according to The Washington Post. "We have an economy that has created nearly 2 million jobs in the past couple of months: apparel, textiles, transportation and equipment, electronic components and equipment, chemicals, industrial and commercial equipment and computers, instruments, photographic equipment, metals, food, wood and wood products. Virtually every state in the union can claim at least one of these industrial sectors. In fact, one young girl, Lucy, wanted to make sure that the economy keeps growing. That should not be done on borrowed money, on borrowed time."

Kassarnig is aware that the A.I. is not perfect yet, but as the sample exhibits, it is able to string together words with great grammar and textual consistency. The researcher is also aware that the technology is far from creating a full State of the Union Address, or from replacing great, human speech writers, but it could offer a workable draft for politicians so that they won't have to take too much time writing them.
