NBC will premiere its next medical drama "Heartbeat," starring Melissa George, this spring after the show was pushed off the fall schedule to accommodate the actress' pregnancy.

George plays the world-renowned heart transplant surgeon, Alex Panttiere. The story of "Heartbeat" is inspired by the real life and achievements of Dr. Kathy Magliato.

Between Dr. Penttiere's hectic hospital life where she is caught between two brilliant but stubborn surgeons (Dave Annable and Don Hany) and her household of two kids and a gay rock star ex-husband (Joshua Leonard), Alex is constantly striving to overcome numerous obstacles and be the best mother and doctor possible.

Premiering on Wednesday, March 23, "Heartbeat" also stars Jamie Kennedy, D.L. Hughley, Shelley Con, Maya Erskine and JLouis Mills. A preview will air after "The Voice" on Tuesday, March 22 at 9 p.m.

The Peacock network will also debut the drama "Game of Silence" about a successful attorney (David Lyons) whose dark secret from childhood comes back to haunt him 25 years later. The show premieres on Thursday, April 7.
