Farhan Akhtar and his celebrity-stylist wife Adhuna Akhtar have decided to separate after being married to each other for 16 years. The multi-talented actor has reportedly moved out of his Bandra residence and has been living with his sister, Zoya Akhtar, while hunting for a new apartment, according to Mid-Day.

There has been a lot of speculation about the couple's split and there were reports that they had been having a troubled marriage for quite some time now. However, the couple maintained that they decided to separate as a result of "growing apart" over the years, according to Bollywood Life.

The "Wazir" actor and Adhuna Akhtar got married in 2000 after dating for three years and have two daughters - Shakya and Akira. Speculation about the couple's separation grew after Farhan Akthar, 42, was spotted sans Adhuna Akhtar, 48, at Hrithik Roshan's birthday bash and Dabboo Ratnani's calendar launch. The couple finally confirmed the news on Wednesday.

"This is to announce that we, Adhuna and Farhan, have mutually and amicably decided to separate," the couple announced, according to Vagabomb. "Our children remain our priority and it is immensely important to us, as responsible parents, that they be protected from unwarranted speculation and public glare. We sincerely request that we are given the privacy that is required at this time to move forward in a dignified manner."
