The Scorchers are aiming for a third Big Bash victory. The Perth franchise will become the first team to win a hat-trick of BBL if they win Friday's semi-final against the Stars and then win the final. Skipper Adam Voges said that his side was on the brink of creating history.

"We've mentioned it. We'd be silly not to. It's a fantastic opportunity for this playing group. They understand they could be writing some history. From that point of view, it's something exciting," Voges said, according to SBS.

The Stars, on the other hand, are keen to end their dry run in the BBL semi-finals. The Melbourne franchise has been eliminated in the semi-finals in the previous four seasons, according to Perth Now.

The final of the fifth season of the Big Bash League will be played between the winners of the first semi-final between the Sydney Thunder and the Adelaide Strikers and the winner of Friday's second semi-final on Sunday (Jan. 24).
