Comedian Tracy Morgan is set to return to the small screen through a half-hour comedy pilot penned by Jordan Peele and John Carcieri of "Eastbound & Down," FX announced during the Television Critics Association's winter press tour Saturday.

The project focuses on a criminal recently released after a 15-year stint in prison and sees him re-enter society and circumnavigate "a modern world of political correctness, internet and self-driving cars," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Morgan, Peele and Carcieri will be the executive producers of the yet-to-be named project, along with Eric Tannenbaum of "Two and a Half Men" and Joel Zadak of "Key and Peele."

This marks the comedian's re-emergence in television following his involvement in a multi-vehicular car accident at the New Jersey Turnpike where he was left in critical condition back in 2014.

The comedian underwent surgery for his broken leg and remained in hospice care for several weeks. His long-time friend and fellow comedian James McNair, who was with him at the time of the crash, was killed, as HNGN previously reported.

Since recovering from his injuries, Morgan has married long-time girlfriend Megan Wollover, landed a film role in "Fist Fight" and made a return to Saturday Night Live. He is also set to do a stand-up tour in 2016.
