The Philadelphia Eagles' talks with former Giants head coach Tom Coughlin are intensifying, and a deal could be coming soon to name him as the organization's next head coach, according to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport. The Giants are reportedly hiring offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo to become their next head coach, and the Eagles have since turned their focus to Coughlin - but there are still issues that need to be worked out, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Eagles and Coughlin are reportedly far down the line in their ongoing discussions in making him their next head coach.

Coughlin stepped down as the Giants head coach after 12 seasons and two Super Bowl wins. The Eagles franchise has not won a Super Bowl in its history, and Coughlin's resume is clearly impressing Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie. The fit seems strange for both Eagles and Giants fans, as Coughlin has lined up across the sidelines from Philadelphia for 12 straight years.

It seems that the Eagles clearly were interested in someone from the Giants staff, but the they have beaten New York five times in the past three years (with only one loss), making many fans scratch their heads. The Giants were in need of a change after missing the playoffs for four straight seasons, and the Eagles look like they are trying to change their mentality as well.

Coughlin is the total opposite of former Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, but that may be just what the Eagles' front office is aiming for. There are still plenty of issues Philadelphia will have to figure out this offseason such as its quarterback, but it seems like it may be close to resolving one issue, as the Eagles are reportedly focused on making Coughlin their next head coach.
