A blue penguin was born on Jan. 8 at the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens. The zoo took to Facebook to find a name for the little guy, and the final decision made by the zoo was to call the newborn Bowie, after the music legend who shared his birthday, according to Discovery. There was a chance that the penguin would be named Elvis, because Bowie and Elvis were born on the same day, but the keepers decided that because there was already a penguin named King, they'd go with Bowie.

Though the penguin was named in his honor before he died, the magnificent rockstar's passing yesterday makes the naming even more meaningful, say zoo officials, according to CBS News.

The video below, shared on the zoo's Facebook page, shows the penguin being fed on his or her third day of life - like David Bowie says in "Rebel Rebel," they're not sure if it's a boy or a girl. They'll be able to find out soon, but for now, the little penguin is as androgynous as Bowie dressed.

Like the keeper in the video says, Bowie is very vocal, not unlike his namesake. Some might prefer the musical stylings of the late musician, but the penguin is doing his very best.

On the day he was born, "Before anything happened, [zookeepers] were playing David Bowie music - they're huge fans - in the nursery where the penguin was set up," said Angela Hatke Cincinnati Zoo Communications Coordinator, according to CBS News.

RIP David Bowie, and welcome to the world, Penguin Bowie!
