Elon Musk, Tesla Motors CEO, took it upon himself to announce that Apple is poised to unveil its own electric car soon. While Cupertino company will not confirm or release any information regarding the automobile, Musk is confident of his prediction and claims that it will expand the electric car industry, according to the BBC.

Musk pointed out that the clue to the Apple car's impending release is the number of workers hired by the company recently. The figure is estimated to include around 1,000 engineers, who have been working since the project - codenamed Titan - was approved by Tim Cook a year ago. Musk proceeded on citing that an Apple electric car is an open secret within the auto industry. His position is further bolstered when Apple registered apple.car, apple.cars and apple.auto domains in December, according to Digital Trends. More conservative speculations, however, cite several more years before the vehicle rolls out. There is, for instance, the claim that an electric car will not be ready until 2020, reported Bloomberg.

Musk's interest in the Apple car is widely documented. In October, he said that engineers who did not make it in his company went to work for the iPhone maker. "They have hired people we've fired. We always jokingly call Apple the 'Tesla Graveyard.' If you don't make it at Tesla, you go work at Apple. I'm not kidding," said Musk, as previously reported by HNGN.
