Glittered beauty trends took over Instagram during the recent party season, but there's one style that has been revealed to have a dangerous aftermath: glitter eyebrows.

Miley Cyrus tried the trend and carried the look with such spunk. She dazzled her followers on her Instagram account sometime before the New Year, and some of them thought she looked pretty cute. More than 4,000 #glitterbrows posts are on the photo-sharing site and the trend is not going away yet, despite the holidays being over.

While these photos show glittered brows that appear to be perfectly done, that's not the case for some women who tried the makeup style. They had their brows specked and splattered with colorful glitters, but the result was rather disastrous, per Buzzfeed. The women used eyelash glue on their brows and taking it off became challenging. No amount of products could completely remove the glitter and the worst part was, some of them lost eyebrow hair.

Makeup artist Ricky Wilson easily identified why the application went wrong for these women - they apparently used the wrong products.  "Lash glue is made of latex, which is designed to be adhered to skin and not hair," he said via Refinery29. If you're still bent on following the trend, Wilson suggested using hairspray or a water-soluble glue, which drag queens have been using for years. Water-soluble glue can be cleaned off with soap and water.

The takeaway from this sticky mess? Some trends are not worth losing hair over and should be attempted only if you really know what to do with it.
