"Call of Duty: Ghosts" only came out a few days ago but that hasn't stopped some of the more hawk-eyed fans from discovering some very subtle Easter eggs in the campaign mode. A player has discovered winks in the game that pay tribute to both "The Legend of Zelda" and Doctor Who.

A Reddit user who goes by the name plotcoupon has uploaded the image, shown above, showing a number of awards on a display shelf in the game. At the far left of the shelf is an award in the shape of a TARDIS, the time and space travel machine used by the Doctor in the incredibly popular Doctor Who series. The award has the words "Award for Largest Interior with Smallest Exterior." This is a clear reference to the long-running joke/plot device on the series in which his police box-sized ship is immensely large with multiple rooms once you step inside.

Then, once you move your view a little toward the middle of the award shelf, you'll see it's shaped like Zelda's Rupee currency and was apparently handed out to the individual for "most bushes cut and pos smashed." This is also a reference to the way in which you search your environment in the iconic game series.

Finally, the award on the far right has apparently been awarded for the world not ending in 2012, presumably a reference to the Mayan prophecy that took the world by storm last year. The prophecy predicted that the world would end in December 2012.

According to IGN, these trophies are present in all versions of the game and not just the Wii U version that has been posted above by the Reddit user. Now it seems that those developing the game at Infinity Ward are such big fans of old-school Nintendo and Doctor Who that they couldn't resist the ability to pepper in a few Easter eggs in the game's story mode.
