Facebook's Messenger app might be coming to a screen near you. Photographic evidence has come to light, which appears to show that a Facebook Messenger app for Mac is in production, according to TechCrunch.

The photo is supposed to show the app being used on a desktop by a Facebook employee. The app will allow users to easily access Messenger from the dock on any Mac desktop, Economic Times reportedThis will make it much easier for users to chat with friends without having to have a Facebook tab open on their computers.

Facebook has yet to confirm that a Messenger app for Mac is in production, according to Engadget. It does seem, however, that an app for Mac is very likely.

The social network's Messenger app recently reached over 800 million downloads, and there has been increased promotion for the app.

There is no word yet on any specifics, nor is there a suspected release date.

This isn't the first foray into desktop apps for the service, however. Facebook tried its hand at creating an app for Windows a few years back, but it never took off. However, with the success the Messenger app has already reached, it's likely that a desktop app would be just as successful.
