"American Idol" kicked off its final season on Fox Wednesday night, but sadly, not everyone was impressed with the show.

Despite not having watched the show in 10 years, Clay Aiken - a former "American Idol" contestant who placed second to Ruben Studdard on the Fox singing competition show in 2003 - took to Twitter to complain about the show's final season premiere - and with about 20 minutes in, he already created his own theory as to why Fox decided to cancel the singing competition series.

"Watching @americanidol for the first time in a decade. You never know what you've got till it's gone," the 37-year-old singer wrote on Twitter. "Well... now I know why the ratings are down [with an adorable sleepy face emoji for extra shade]."

Aiken went on to complain and mock the show's judges, Keith Urban, Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Jr. Fox announced in May that season 15 would be Idol's last. During his Twitter rant, Aiken attributed the show's success to former judge Simon Cowell, who was still on the judge's panel when Aiken competed, along with Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson.

"Oh good Lord... those boring ass responses from the judges!? Where is Simon when you need him? That guy need a hook to pull him off stage," Aiken wrote. "It's VERY clear now that @SimonCowell was the reason @AmericanIdol was a hit. I've watched root canals more entertaining than these judges," he added

After admitting that he was changing the channel, Aiken defended his critique of the show that made him famous, explaining that he was holding "American Idol" to high standards.

"When your favorite team that you've cheered for years happens to play a shitty game, you're absolutely allowed to be upset about it," he wrote. "We're all more critical of the things we care about most. When you really love something you only want the best for it, and you have high expectations from those you know are capable of it." Aiken added

Aiken might not have enjoyed watching "Idol," but Season 1 winner Kelly Clarkson definitely did. The pop star praised the show on Twitter, writing, "Watching @AmericanIdol & totally crying like a pregnant girl every time some1 makes it ha!"

"Last season, so crazy!" Clarkson added. "Thanks 4 my start Idol."
