"Game of Thrones" Season 6 premiere date has officially been announced and fans of the fantasy drama series finally know when they'll find out about Jon Snow's fate and whether or not he is alive.

At the Television Critics Association's winter press tour, HBO announced that Season 6 of the Emmy-winning series will premiere on April 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT and will be followed by the season premieres of "Silicon Valley" and "Veep."

Since the end of the show's fifth season, fans have been waiting to find out whether Jon Snow was indeed dead after being betrayed and stabbed by members of the Night Watch in the season finale. However, HBO released promos, including a teaser trailer that opened with a shot of the fan-favorite character, played by Kit Harrington, fueling speculation that Ned Stark's bastard son would somehow be resurrected for season six.

"We're getting closer and closer," Natalie Dormer told E! News. "We're months away now, as opposed to half a year when the questions started being asked, so the end's in sight. April, guys. Hold on, just hold on."

HBO also revealed at the event that the network is in the final stages of a deal to renew the hit series based on George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" novels for a seventh and eight season and an official announcement is expected soon, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
