A 15-year-old girl from Brooklyn was charged Monday for the murder of her mother, Rosie Sanchez, 38, and Anderson Nunez, 40, inside their apartment and left them there to rot as she partied during New Year's Eve. The cops made the initial discovery at around 8:00 p.m. after the girl, identified as Destiny Garcia, told her cousin that she had murdered Sanchez and Nunez, Sanchez's boyfriend, reported the New York Daily News. The cousin called the police, prompting them to conduct a wellness check, which led to the discovery of the couple's remains.

Inside, police found Sanchez slumped in a chair with several knife wounds on her chest and a bullet wound to her head, and Nunez on the floor with stab wounds on his head, neck and torso.

After being taken to the 61st Precinct for questioning, Garcia confessed to the murders, saying she killed the two because she was abused by Nunez and that her mother refused to help her in the face of the repeated attacks.

However, come Monday, Garcia reportedly changed her story, saying that it was her mother that was being physically abusive while Nunez refused to help, NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce revealed.

In light of the evidence, Boyce said the evidence doesn't add up, adding that her actions aren't "consistent with someone acting in self-defense," according to Sport Act"We don't believe this is at all, initially, an act of self defense. She went and got a gun from another individual that we're trying to find right now, to commit the homicide," he said.

Garcia has been charged as an adult with two counts of murder and one count of criminal possession of a firearm, reported PIX 11. Police are looking for the person responsible for giving her the handgun.

In the meantime, authorities are determining a possible motive for the murders, with a domestic argument as a likely candidate.
