Selena Gomez on Her Love Life: 'I'm The Girl You Want to Take Home to Your Parents, Not For the Night' (PHOTOS)

Just as her peers Demi Lovato and Miley Cyrus did, 21-year-old Selena Gomez shot to stardom following the success of her Disney days, but unlike Cyrus, she's kept her image relatively clean, and insists that rebellion in the spotlight just isn't for her, ABC News reports.

In her latest December cover issue interview for Teen Vogue, Gomez opened up about her private life, which, despite the suggestive lyrics to her hit song "Come & Get it," isn't as racy as you might expect.

"Part of you wants to have that rebellious feeling where you're just like, forget it - I can do anything I want," Gomez told the magazine. "I've tried it, and I've never been that girl. I'm always going to be the girl you want to take home to your parents, not for the night."

Earlier this year, Gomez split from Justin Bieber, a romance that's end she detailed on her latest pop album, "Stars Dance."

"You fall in love and it completely consumes you. So a part of you is broken when that's gone," she told Teen Vogue.

In the wake of their highly publicized breakup, both stars were linked countless times to other potential romantic interests, though Gomez has more on her mind at the moment than dating, comparing herself to her best friend Taylor Swift.

"I'm 21, so now I've entered the decade of confusion about who I am and what I want to do with my life, and that's what this entire decade's going to be," she said. "The difference between Taylor [Swift] and me is she was sixteen with the confidence of a 25-year-old. Actually, I should say 80-year-old, because she's such an old soul."

"I was not that way. I was very sheltered until about eighteen or nineteen. I still live at home, and I'm 21! She does inspire me like crazy, but I wouldn't change my path, because it allowed me to figure out all that stuff and do it on my own."

This included experimenting with more adult film roles, including her work in Harmony Korine's sex and drug-fueled "Spring Breakers," a move that marked her departure from her squeaky-clean Disney days that she's referred to as an "experience" and a "journey" for her as an actress.
