After a tabloid published a story that 14-year-old aspiring model and singer Molly O'Malia and rapper Tyga were in love, involved in a sex scandal, and broke up his relationship with girlfriend Kylie Jenner, the teen had no choice but to come forward with the truth.

During a press conference with lawyer Gloria Allred on Monday, O'Malia claimed that the 26-year-old rapper initiated unwanted and "uncomfortable" contact with her through social media, according to People. Apparently, she and Tyga only spoke online but she ended things as soon as he tried to meet up with her in person, despite what the original tabloid reports said.

"The truth is that Tyga contacted me first. He direct messaged me on Instagram. I knew who he was but I was surprised that he was contacting me," she said in a statement. "I thought that it could possibly be about my music, but he did not mention that in his initial communication with me. I thought that was strange."

She went on to explain how she kept waiting for him to mention her music in the following messages but that it never came up. "I began to feel uncomfortable when he asked me to FaceTime with him," she continued. "He asked me to FaceTime three times, but I did not do it. Because of my discomfort with why he wanted to communicate with me I quickly stopped responding to him. It's crazy how so much can come out of nothing."

The original story, which OK! Magazine first published, claimed the two were "hooking up," in love and the reason he and Jenner broke up. Even though the magazine tried to hide her identity with a pixelated image, it didn't do a very good job and people quickly figured out that it was O'Malia, according to TMZ. The media quickly began hounding her for coming between Jenner and Tyga and allegedly breaking them up, which is why she decided to get a lawyer so people could understand that he initiated the conversation with her and not the other way around.

She also chose to speak out because she didn't want what happened to her to happen to another young girl. Her mother, Anne Lowry O'Malia, also released a statement criticizing the magazine for "falsely [insinuating] that there was an inappropriate sexually suggestive relationship going on between Tyga and Molly."

A Twitter account that appears to belong to O'Malia tweeted, "I've never been so proud of myself" shortly after news of the press conference broke.
