Samsung is known for introducing strange devices that eventually turn out to be hits in the market. The massive Galaxy Note phablet, which was initially derided for its humongous display, is a case in point. Now, the Korean tech giant is introducing another weird product in the form of a refrigerator that is outfitted with a giant touch screen display.

The new Samsung fridge, which was first introduced on the company's Flickr account with a series of images, is called the family hub refrigerator. It is also a prominent fixture in Samsung's press materials being circulated at CES 2016. It is tempting to say that the latest Samsung product is just a normal fridge with an embedded touch screen display. However, one can also say that it is a humongous Android phone with a refrigerator function. This is highlighted with the capacitive buttons that resemble your ordinary Android device with its Home, Back and Messaging icons.

There are still no available details about the Samsung smart fridge, so it is difficult to say how the display works or how it is integrated into the entire refrigerator system. Certainly, it should be able to create grocery lists or calendar notes. The marketing slogan in the fridge's press peripherals says, "Get connected," noted Android Headlines. The device, therefore, should be able to connect to the Internet or sync with other mobile devices. In case it comes with an advanced A.I. system, then perhaps it could also be programmed to order on its own if the supplies inside run out.
