TCU Horned Frogs quarterback Trevone Boykin was arrested early Thursday morning in the immediate aftermath of an altercation at a San Antonio bar, according to a report from ESPN. Boykin allegedly struck a police officer and has been "formally charged with assaulting a public servant, a third-degree felony, and assigned a $5,000 bond," per ESPN.

TCU is set to square off against Oregon in the Alamo Bowl on Saturday, but Boykin will not be joining his teammates on the field, as he has been suspended for the game, per Yahoo Sports.

Per ESPN, the altercation began when fans in the bar recognized Boykin and began to trash talk the talented signal-caller.

"Authorities told multiple media outlets that Boykin, 22, and some teammates were in an establishment named Pat O'Brien's just before 2 a.m. when some patrons recognized the quarterback and began to trash talk. Boykin became upset and a scuffle ensued. In the melee, Boykin struck a bar employee," according to ESPN's report.

Boykin and his fellow players were removed from the bar, but the fight continued outside. San Antonio bicycle police officers arrived on the scene and attempted to stop the fight, only Boykin would not be subdued.

The police report suggests that the suspect "was very aggressive and was being held back by the group that he was with. Members of his group stated they would get him back to the hotel they were staying at."

Boykin eventually charged officers, swinging at them, before he was taken to the ground. He now also faces charges of resisting arrest and public intoxication.

TCU offered this statement in response to the incident...

"We are aware of a situation last night and are gathering information," the statement reads, per ESPN. "We will continue to closely monitor this and evaluate additional details as they become available."

Boykin, a senior quarterback for the Horned Frogs, threw for 3,575 yards, 31 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions this season.
