WARNING: The following contains possible major spoilers for "Captain America: Civil War."

It would be difficult for Marvel to put on a "Civil War" in the upcoming Captain America movie without there being any actual casualties. Throughout the Marvel Cinematic Universe, villains have been destroyed without a second thought. But, to this point, no major heroes have lost their lives (we're not counting that truly awful version of Quicksilver). That could change in "Civil War," as the latest rumor suggests a fan favorite could meet his end this time around.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) would pass away at the start of "Civil War," and Steve Rogers would first be seen attending her funeral. Now comes word from "That Hashtag Show" that the movie plans to also end with a funeral: Captain America himself. *gasp*

In the original comic, Cap ends the superhero conflict by surrendering himself to the authorities in exchange for amnesty for his allies. However, as he enters custody he is assassinated by Crossbones (Frank Grillo). "Civil War" could play out the same way, or Daniel Bruhl's Baron Zemo could be responsible. Either way, it sounds as if Chris Evans is going to get it.

"That Hashtag Show" reports that Tony Stark will be publicly blamed for causing the conflict that resulted in Cap's death, furthering the schism that has already chipped away at the Avengers. This is similar to the story that played out in the "Fallen Son" comic which picked up right after Steve's demise. However, the mantle of Captain America will not be left dormant. According to the rumor, there is a scene in which three characters pick up the iconic shield: Bucky Barnes (The Winter Soldier), Sam Wilson (The Falcon) and Sharon Carter (Agent 13). One of them will likely continue on as the new Captain America, with Bucky being the front runner as he dons the red, white and blue in the source material.

Despite this new rumor, it's important to remember that Evans is signed on for at least one of the "Avengers: Infinity War" movies. Whether that means he is somehow brought back to life, faked his own death, or this entire rumor is bogus remains to be seen.

We'll find out the full story when "Captain America: Civil War" hits theaters on May 6, 2016.
