Black Caps, leading the series by 2-0, are now aiming to seal the ODI series against visitors. Martin Guptill's 93 off just 30 balls powered New Zealand to a 10-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in second ODI, played at Christchurch on Dec. 27.

Battling first, the Angelo Mathews-led side was bowled out for 117 in 28th over. Matt Henry and Mitchell McClenaghan together took seven wickets to destroy Sri Lankan battling order.

Chasing paltry 118, opener Guptill struck 93 off just 30 balls. He also hit New Zealand's fasters fifty (50 off 17 balls) breaking the record of skipper Brendon McCullum (50 off 18 balls).

"It was a superb innings. You can't describe it. It's something you witness only once or twice in your life. There are very few guys in the world who can play like that," New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum said, according to BBC.

Sri Lankan skipper Angola Mathews termed the defeat "embarrassing" and blamed his batsmen for a "pathetic display."

"It was quite embarrassing. It was a pathetic batting display by the whole unit. It was a belter of a wicket. It didn't seam, or swing or bounce. It was just bad shot selection," he said, according to Radio New Zealand. "We couldn't handle it and we lost too many wickets up front and we did not give our bowlers a chance to bowl at them."
