The second One Day International (ODI) of the five-match series between host New Zealand and Sri Lanka will be played at Hagley Oval in Christchurch Monday.

The hosts, who won the first ODI played at same venue on Dec. 26, are looking to extend their lead in series.

Battling first, Sri Lanka had posted 188 on the scoreboard with the help of a 98-run partnership between Milinda Siriwardana (66) and Nuwan Kulaserara (58), according to the Daily Mail. The Black caps easily chased the modest target. Skipper Brendon McCullum and Martin Guptill's half centuries guided their team to a seven-wicket victory.

"With the new ball in their bands, they were outstanding for us and that's where the winning of the game was when you're needing to chase 190 and know the wicket is going to be good," McCullum said while praising his bowlers, according to AFP.

The visitors, who were earlier crushed by New Zealand in the preceding Test series by 2-0, are now hoping for a turn-around in the ODI series.
