Comedian and actor David Spade fired off on social media about President Barack Obama after Obama made an appearance on the survival reality TV show "Running Wild with Bear Grylls," and he explained the reasoning behind his tweet in an interview with TMZ.

A recent episode of survival expert Grylls' show featured Obama as a guest. The episode was filmed in September and aired earlier this month, and the POTUS made an appearance in an attempt to draw more attention to climate change, according to the BBC. Spade tweeted his reaction to the show, which was later deleted.

"Why is Obama on Bear Grills trying to survive in the tundra? Isnt the idea to keep the prez alive? And why is he on a reality show?Wtf ?" the 51-year-old wrote on Twitter, as reported by the Huffington Post.

The "Joe Dirt" star was spotted in Los Angeles shortly after his tweet and he explained to TMZ why he felt the way he felt about the President's reality TV appearance.

"I criticized Obama because I thought a president should have a little more dignity than that," Spade told TMZ in a video interview. "I mean, I realize Woodrow Wilson went on 'Dancing with the Stars' once, but what president is doing reality shows?"

He went on to explain that the idea is "weird" to him and mentioned First Lady Michelle Obama's appearances on Ellen as well, and said that the Obamas' association with television and pop culture "seems a bit thirsty" to him.

"I think they're gonna do fine but they're sort of plotting after the White House," Spade continued. "Like, he's on GQ. Like, leave that to Bradley Cooper, you don't need to. You're the president, you're above all of us. You're above stars, you're above everything."
