An Oregon man called foul on the State's Department of Revenue after seeing his tax statement and decided to leave a flock of seven chickens inside the office in an act of revenge, according to authorities.

Police went to the office on 1600 Valley River Drive in Eugene around 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday after receiving reports of a chicken flock inside the building's lobby, the Eugene Police Dept. said, according to CBS' Oregon affiliate KOIN-TV.

However, police, who are typically untrained in handling chickens, had to call a local animal welfare officer to help. Together, they herded and rounded up the chickens, then took them to the the 1st Avenue Shelter.

The person who left the chickens behind, 66-year-old Louis John Adler, of Creswell, was cited for trespassing and faces a citation if he comes near the office again, reported The Huffington Post. He apparently had prior dealings with office employees that ran afoul  in the past.

There is no specific information about the source of his frustrations available.

While neither human nor fowl were injured during the incident, the office wasn't quite as lucky, reported The Register-Guard. The chickens didn't cause any damage to the office, but they did leave behind some poop.
