The rumor mill has been churning out updates regarding HTC's new midrange device, the One X9, a powerful phone with a premium feel and a non-premium price. As it turns out, the rumors appear to be true, as the smartphone manufacturer has finally unveiled the device in a launch event in China on Thursday, according to Uber Gizmo.

The device is a successor to the HTC One A9, a smartphone with impressive specs but with a rather controversial design. Featuring many of the design cues from the iconic iPhone, many reviewers were quick to condemn the device as an Apple ripoff.

The HTC One X9, however, changes all of that, featuring internals that are flagship-worthy and a design that is bold and balanced at the same time. The X9 is equipped with a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p display and is encased in a metal body, giving the smartphone a premium look and feel.

Powering the device is a MediaTex X10 octacore processor that is clocked at 2.2 Ghz and a hefty 3 GB of RAM. The phone comes with 32 GB memory as well, and it features a microSD card slot that is expandable up to 2 TB, reports Android Guys.

The X9 does not shy away in the imaging department too, with a 13 MP shooter at the back and a 5 MP front camera. Battery-wise, the device is pretty hefty as well, with a 3,000 mAh pack installed.

As for the smartphone's operating system, HTC has not provided the final details as of writing, so there is uncertainty if the X9 would come preinstalled with Android 6.0 Marshmallow or Lollipop. It's predecessor, the A9, came with Marshmallow, so there is a possibility that the X9 would carry the same software, according to The Daily Mail.

The HTC One X9 is set to enter the market where midrange heavyweights like Xiaomi, Huawei and Oppo are thriving. With the X9's specs and a reasonable asking price of USD370 in mind, it does seem like HTC has crafted a winner.

Unfortunately, HTC has only announced the One X9 for the Chinese market. For those who wish to get the phone internationally, some patience is due.
