Two Odessa police officers were shot at an apartment complex in West Texas late Wednesday morning while trying to serve a warrant. The incident began at around 11:30 a.m. local time when police were serving a warrant at 1030 Custer Avenue at the Clayton Town Home Apartments and shots rang out, according to NBC's Texas affiliate KWES-TV.

After the gunshots were reported, evacuations were issued for nearby residents and SWAT members were called to the scene, who set up a perimeter around the area.

As the standoff continues, residents have been asked to stay away and all roads in the area have been blocked off, reported the Associated Press. The suspect has reportedly barricaded himself inside the apartment complex.
