Warning: The following contains spoilers for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens"

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has now been in theaters for almost a week, and yet fans still have an abundance of unanswered questions. While J.J. Abrams' highly anticipated addition to the "Star Wars" saga added a rollicking good-time adventure to the series, it failed to dig deep into many of the new characters. Rey, Finn, Poe and Kylo Ren all took center stage without much backstory, but it is Andy Serkis' Supreme Leader Snoke that remains the biggest mystery of all.

Snoke's screen time is minimal, and details about his character are even fewer. What we know now is that he is the leader of the First Order and the one who seduced Kylo Ren (Ben Solo) to the Dark Side. But who is Snoke? Where did he come from? How did he become a Dark Side Force user? The answers to these crucial questions remain frustratingly unknown.

Yet Heroic Hollywood is speculating that Snoke is actually Darth Plagueis, the former master of Emperor Palpatine (Darth Sidious) who was betrayed and murdered by his ambitious apprentice.

Darth Plagueis was a Sith Lord with an unparalleled mastery of the Dark Side. He became obsessed with the notion of manipulating life, and his search for power eventually granted him unnatural abilities.

Serkis told Entertainment Weekly that Snoke is a "long-range schemer" and someone who has "suffered a lot of damage." That seems to fit with what we know about Plagueis and could be used as a through-line to unify all of the films.

"The current theory is that Darth Plagueis was never actually murdered by his student and he managed to keep his body alive by using the powers and understanding of the Dark Sider to repair himself following Palpatine's betrayal," HH theorized.

Admittedly, this isn't the most convincing supporting evidence in the world. But it makes sense from a storytelling perspective to have a somewhat known villain who has prior history in this backstory.
