Prince Christian of Denmark was saved by a lifeguard in Australia after he was dragged by a strong current by the beach last Thursday. The ten-year-old Prince Christian, second in line for the Danish throne, was taken in by a rip current in Australia's Mermaid Beach.

Nick Malcolm, the lifeguard, immediately went into action and paddled out into the sea to take Prince Christian out of the water. Malcolm was able to save the young prince and brought him to shore.

"He was a really good swimmer - it helped that he didn't panic, Malcolm said, according to Stuff"It was just a standard rescue - doesn't matter that he's a royal."

"We got him before it got too serious, but he wouldn't have come back in," the lifeguard's supervisor Stuart Keay said, according to CNN.

However, the staff at the beach did not know that they just saved a member of Denmark's royal family. Prince Christian's father, Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, thanked Malcolm after his son was saved, according to the Examiner. He was supervising his son when the incident occurred.

The family was taking a vacation at the popular Gold Coast in Queensland in Australia, where Crown Princess Mary, Frederick's wife, was born.

Prince Christian is grandson to Denmark's Queen Margrethe II and Prince Consort Henrik.
