By now it is well known around the NBA that the Houston Rockets have not been playing well this season and that their experiment with Ty Lawson hasn't worked out. There were reports earlier in the season that the Rockets were looking to trade him but then they told him they wouldn't trade him. After it was announced that Lawson would be suspended for two games, for a DUI back in 2014, there were new reports that trade opportunities were being searched but now it looks like Lawson's camp is pushing hard for a trade, according to Calvin Watkins of ESPN.

Lawson has served one of the two games in the suspension so far but he is having a very bad season and his minutes have really come down. Through 26 games Lawson is averaging just 25.2 minutes per game, which is a career low, and more recently he has seen even less time than that. The lack of significant playing time is certainly warranted considering he is shooting just 33 percent from the field but that won't stop Lawson's representatives from seeking a trade.

The hope for Lawson and his camp is that he will get traded to a team where he can get more playing time and start to rebuild his value; the problem is that the Rockets reportedly want to keep him. The Rockets really have no reason to trade Lawson as his value has plummeted big time this season and it is very unlikely they would be able to get anything of worth from trading him. Lawson is still in Houston's rotation and will likely provide them with more than he would bring back in a trade so unless his representative's pull off something somewhat miraculous it doesn't seem like the Rockets will trade him.

It isn't entirely out of the realm of possibility that a team would be willing to part with an asset or two for Lawson considering he was a very good player as recently as last season but it is unlikely a team would give up a big asset for the 28 year old point guard right now. The Rockets may consider trading Lawson just to rid themselves of the headache but other than that they don't have much motivation to trade him so we will have to see what his camp can come up with or if they can pester Houston enough to the point where they see moving on as an addition by subtraction type of move.
