Miss Puerto Rico, Destiny Velez, has been suspended by the Miss Universe Organization after she posted numerous comments against Muslims on Twitter. Twenty-year-old Velez sent a series of anti-Muslim tweets at filmmaker Michael Moore on Thursday after the latter posted a photo of himself outside of Trump Tower in New York City and held a sign that read, "We are all Muslim."

Moore's post was inspired by comments made by the Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump, who controversially said that all Muslims should be banned from the U.S., the Daily Mail U.K. reported.

"Muslims use our constitution to terrorize USA & plant gas stations," "there's NO comparison between Jews, Christians & Muslims. Jews nor Christians have terrorizing agendas in their sacred books," were some of the tweets Velez posted based on a screen grab obtained by the Atlantic Journal-Constitution.

Velez also lashed out saying that all Muslims have done over the years is to "provide oil" and "terrorize the country and many others." She even suggested that they use "our constitution to "terrorize the USA and plant gas stations."

The Miss Puerto Rico Organization has released a statement on their official website over the weekend, with the apparent intention of distancing itself from Velez. "Miss Velez's actions were in contradiction to the organization, and therefore as a consequence of her actions, she has been suspended indefinitely," the statement read. "The Miss Puerto Rico Organization will not tolerate any actions or behavior contrary to the Miss Puerto Rico Organization."

Velez herself has apologized for her tweets. "I am first and foremost an #UpStander and as such I stand up against bullying. The last thing I wanted to do was to bully anyone," she said.
