San Francisco head coach Jim Tomsula's job could be on the line down the stretch of this season, and the team's effort will be heavily watched in the final three games of the year, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.

The 49ers are currently in a three-way tie for the worst record in the NFC at 4-9, and after losing to the Cleveland Browns this past Sunday 24-10, anyone could be on the chopping block in San Francisco. Tomsula is in his first season as head coach for the 49ers, and the team has not shown any improvement.

While Tomsula clearly holds some of the responsibility, 49ers CEO Jed York stated last December after the team parted ways with Jim Harbaugh that if the 49ers aren't winning a Super Bowl he should be held responsible. York has not been available to take accountability for the poor play for the 49ers this season, and many in San Francisco are calling for his job, according to Daniel Brown of the San Jose Mercury News.

The 49ers lost a ton of key players this offseason, and the losses of Patrick Willis and Justin Smith are likely to have a major impact on any NFL team. The 49ers also lost talented young linebacker Chris Borland, who decided to step away from the game over safety issues. Despite losing multiple key players, the 49ers were still expected to compete in the NFC West and have been 0-5 in divisional games, with only the St. Louis Rams left to play on their schedule.

The 49ers host the Cincinnati Bengals this weekend, and quarterback Andy Dalton will not play due to a fractured thumb. The 49ers will face backup quarterback A.J. McCarron on Sunday and will need to put pressure on the second-year quarterback. The Bengals are currently 10-3 on the year, and Tomsula will need his team to contend in the this game if he wants questions about his future with the organization to stop.

Both York and Tomsula look to be on the hot seat in San Francisco, but how they finish this season could have a major impact on what direction the franchise decides to take in 2016.
