This offseason it seemed like the Sacramento Kings had done a great job in free agency to make the team more competive as they added Rajon Rondo among others and they looked like a team that could compete for a playoff spot. The Kings have won their last three games but their record is still a disappointing 10-15. With things not going quite as well as planned the Kings have reportedly told Caron Butler, a new signee this offseason, that they will trade him very soon, according to Marc Stein of ESPN

Butler was viewed as a very good low-key signing for the Kings this offseason as he is a well respected leader who can still play very well at the age of 35. It was assumed that Butler would be part of the Kings rotation this season but that hasn't happened as he has only appeared in eight games so far with Omri Casspi earning playing time over him. Because he is not being used the Kings told him they will trade him to a team where he can play more after Christmas.

The team that has come up the most when talking about where Butler might be traded is the Milwaukee Bucks and it makes a lot of sense. Butler played with the Bucks for half a season back in 2013 and he is a native of Racine, Wisconsins. Also Butler is a former teammate of Bucks head coach Jason Kidd and the Bucks are looking for some veteran leadership for their very young team that has struggled so far this season.

The Bucks lost both Zaza Pachulia and Jared Dudley this offseason and those two were huge pieces to the teams success last year. The Bucks failed to replace the leadership Pachulia and Dudley brought so they are looking to do so now with Butler. There haven't been any other teams linked to Butler so at this point it seems like a foregone conclusion that he will be in Milwaukee very soon.

The Bucks will likely not have to give up much of anything to acquire Butler considering the Kings aren't even using him so this rumored deal makes a lot of sense for both sides. The fact that the Kings promised Butler he would be traded so that he could play shows how much respect he has around the league and that is the exact reason Milwaukee wants him back.
