Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will finally be seen in the stores in the U.S. for $229.99 starting November 10, but buyers can pre-order the device this Friday, November 1.

Samsung, world's largest smartphone maker, announced its Galaxy Tab 3 Kids back in August and has finally revealed the launch date and price for its kids-centred Android slate on Monday, October 28. The latest device is a redesigned version of Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 specially designed for kids, with pre-installed kids' software and games.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Kids features dual operating modes, making it a device for both kids and adults. The Standard version of the tablet gives adults the feel of its previous Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 model. Users can easily switch between Kids mode and Standard mode.

"Today's kids are incredibly tech-savvy and regularly use technology at home, at school and on-the-go," Nanda Ramachandran, vice president of emerging business, Samsung Mobile, said in a press release.  "Studies show that 70 percent of tablet owners share their tablets with their children.  The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids is engaging, encourages learning and fosters creativity in a safe environment that parents can easily manage."

The newest Galaxy Tab 3 Kids sports a fancy look with a yellow frame and orange bumper. It seems so much like a Halloween theme given the timing of the launch but the slate is designed to attract kids. The technical specifications are impressive. The tablet sports a 7-inch display with a 1,024 x 600 megapixels screen resolution. Good enough for kids to play games like Fruit Ninja and Disney's Toy Story: Smash It, and for adults to watch movies or use it like a traditional tablet.

Parents can easily oversee what their kids can access with the pre-loaded parental controls. Kids can not directly buy paid apps via Google Play Store, which could put a deep cut in parents' pocket. However, they can create a wish list, which will help parents to review the apps in the list and purchase them if appropriate.

The tablet also supports Wi-Fi, a 3-megapixel rear facing camera and a 1.3 megapixels front-facing camera, useful for parents away at work as they  can initiate a video call to check up on their kids.

The Galaxy Tab 3 Kids will be available in select retail stores starting November 10, with a reasonable price tag of $229.99, including a free bumper. Additional hard case bundle can be purchased starting $249.99. The device will be available for pre-orders from Friday, November 1.
