For the next five years, Manchester Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom will team up with Pizza Hut to offer an apprenticeship program for about 1,500 students, offering a degree that has just been a dream for most - a degree in pizza, according to Time.

Kathryn Austin, Pizza Hut's director of HR and marketing, said that the degree is designed to equip the apprentices with the necessary skills to succeed not just in the food industry but in other fields as well.

"Over the next few years, we will work hard to provide our apprentices and team members with the best training and development so that we can equip them with skills for life, not just for working in a restaurant," she said.

In the program, apprentices will learn a range of skills, from basic food production to more complex concepts, such as financial analysis. Pizza Hut has further stated that it is committed to paying the apprentices the national minimum wage instead of the statutory minimum wage, which is considerably lower, reports Mashable.

Pizza Hut is not the only restaurant chain that offers such programs. In 2012, KFC partnered with De Montford University to launch a KFC degree program. McDonald's has also started offering a foundation degree course for its business managers since 2010.
