Warning: The following contains possible spoilers for HBO's "Game of Thrones."

Perhaps realizing the futility of their "Jon Snow is dead" faux-narrative, HBO released a promotional poster for the upcoming season of "Game of Thrones" last week that featured a noticeably alive Jon Snow. Although this isn't exactly a surprise - fans have been doubting the character's ominous fate since the season five finale - it did reinvigorate the debate as to how Jon Snow comes back to live.

Fan site Watchers on the Wall reports that Carice van Houten, who plays Melisandre, shot all of her season six scenes in Belfast behind closed doors. Regardless of whatever else has leaked in the past, HBO seems intent on keeping this character's storyline tightly under wraps. This has led many to believe that her Red God magic will play an important role in Jon's resurrection.

We've already seen the power of the Lord of Light with Thoros of Myr and Beric Dondarrion. Beric's frequent resurrections have slowly eroded some of his humanity but hopefully Jon will not be a changed man after just one run-through.

It is widely believed that because Jon is killed, he is released from his oath to the Night's Watch. This has been further supported by on-set leaks and rumors that suggest he returns to Winterfell in season six. Ser Alliser Thorne, who spearheaded the mutiny against Jon, is the logical choice to replace him as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. Yet Watchers on the Wall report that another existing character from outside Castle Black could assume the mantle.

"Game of Thrones" will return to HBO in April 2016.
